In February of 1940 nine men in Hershey, Pennsylvania started the Ice Capades. For over fifty years their ice skating performances were a part of American culture. However, times changed, and in 1995 Ice Capades went out of business. There have been numerous attempts to revive it, but without luck.
The endurance of the Ice Capades can be seen on television. Ice Capades are mentioned in scripts often, even though they are no longer in existence. Some of the shows written and produced after the end of the Ice Capades, that still mention if are The Drew Carey Show, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
